Triggering Campaigns on Real-World Moments
The most effective campaigns reach customers when something real is happening — a weather shift, a viral cultural conversation, a local event gaining momentum. Simon AI helps you define and configure those moments through a conversational interface. Describe the context you want to act on, and the agent translates it into a fully configured trigger, ready to attach to a Journey.
This capability is powered by the Moment Agent.
What's a real-world moment
Real-world moments are external signals outside of your customer's individual behavior — conditions and conversations happening in the world that shift purchase intent or campaign relevance.
Simon AI supports three real-world moment types today:
| Moment type | What it captures | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Weather Moments | Real-time forecasts and conditions mapped to customer locations | Cold snap, heat wave, rain forecast, severe weather, seasonal shift |
| Social Trend Moments | Viral topics and cultural conversations from social platforms | Trending aesthetic, viral product category, cultural conversation spike |
| Live Event Moments | Real-world happenings your brand cares about, discovered via AI-powered web search | Playoff clinch, marathon approaching, highway closure, festival announcement |
Any event, any signalLive Event Moments go beyond weather and social trends. Sports seasons, local happenings, industry incidents, cultural calendars — if it's happening in the world, it can power your marketing. Simon builds a discovery pipeline that monitors the web on your schedule and delivers structured event data automatically.
Getting started
Navigate to AI Studio > Chats and describe the trigger you want to configure. Simon will route moment-related requests to the Moment Agent automatically.
You can also access the Moment Agent directly from within a Project by selecting Configure with AI on a Moment node.
Describe the context, not the logicYou don't need to know which events to listen for or how to structure the conditions. Describe what's happening in the world, and the agent figures out the configuration.
Example prompts
- "Trigger when temperatures drop more than 15 degrees in a customer's local market"
- "Fire when precipitation is forecasted in metros where I have outdoor inventory in stock"
- "Send when conditions stay above 85°F for two consecutive days in markets with physical stores"
- "Trigger when a social trend relevant to my brand category gains velocity"
- "Track when product categories I sell start trending on TikTok"
- "Fire when a viral aesthetic I carry in my catalog spikes in social conversation"
- "Track NBA playoff clinch scenarios for teams in markets where I have stores"
- "Monitor upcoming marathons and running events within 50 miles of my customer base"
- "Find local food festivals and outdoor events in my top 20 markets over the next 30 days"
- "Alert me to highway closures or major infrastructure disruptions near my distribution centers"
What you can do
| Capability | Description |
|---|---|
| Set up world context triggers | Use external signals like weather conditions, viral trends, live events, or seasonal data to determine when a campaign becomes relevant |
| Track any real-world event | Describe the events your brand cares about — sports, local happenings, industry news, cultural calendars — and Simon builds an always-on discovery feed |
| Combine signals | Layer triggers — for example, fire only when a cold-weather signal coincides with a category your customer has shopped before |
| Set frequency and timing rules | Specify how often the moment should fire and any cooldown or recency constraints |
| Configure suppression | Exclude customers who have recently converted, already received the campaign, or don't meet additional criteria |
| Approve trends (Social only) | For Social Trend Moments, review and approve detected trends before they trigger campaigns |
How to use it
- Navigate to AI Studio > Chats (or open from a Project's Moment node)
- Describe the world condition you want to act on: a weather signal, a social trend, a live event, or a combination
- Review the proposed trigger configuration in the results panel: event conditions, timing rules, and suppression logic
- Refine if needed: "Add a 48-hour cooldown" or "Exclude customers who purchased in the last 30 days"
- Confirm to save the Moment to your library and attach it to a Journey
Working inside a Project
When you access the Moment Agent from within a Project, it uses the Project's objective and audience as context. The agent will suggest trigger logic that fits your campaign goal: if your Project targets lapsed buyers, it will favor re-engagement triggers rather than acquisition ones.
Tips
- You can iterate on the trigger definition in the same conversation; the agent maintains context throughout
- If you're unsure which signal best captures the context you want, describe it in plain English; the agent will map it to the right Moment type
- Moments configured here appear in your Moment library and can be reused across Projects
- For Live Event Moments, the agent builds a discovery pipeline that refreshes on your chosen schedule — no manual lookups needed
